The Irish diaspora in Tucson, Arizona, may be thousands of miles from Ireland, but our community carries the spirit of our ancestors with deep pride. From the early Irish immigrants who dedicated their talent to building our region and shaping Arizona’s early labor movement (fun fact, James Connolly visited us in 1909) to the generations of Irish Americans who call Tucson home today, our connection to Ireland remains strong.
At the 2025 Tucson St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival, we embraced our heritage with the theme “Unity & Peace,” reflecting not only on our commitment to the potential possible when we are unified in purpose here locally, but also our support for a unified Ireland and her people’s right to self-determination. Just as Tucson is a city where diverse cultures come together in harmony, we stand with those advocating for a peaceful, democratic reunification of Ireland.
The parade featured tributes to Irish history, culture, and the ongoing movement for unity. We were honored to have voices from across our community—leaders, activists, artists, and families—join us in this message of hope.
As we continue to celebrate our Irish roots, we reaffirm that the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day is more than just festivity—it is about solidarity, heritage, hope, and a vision for a just and united future. Here in Tucson, the heart of the Irish diaspora beats strong, and our commitment to peace and unity, both at home and abroad, remains unwavering.
