General President Emeritus of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) Terry O’Sullivan delivered the annual James Connolly Memorial Lecture on Thursday, August 3rd.
To a full auditorium, he provided insight into issues which affect working classes in Ireland, the United States, and around the world.
“Trade unionism is the greatest anti-poverty initiative ever devised.”
“A new generation of workers in the US is beginning to understand the power of activism, solidarity, and collective bargaining. Today my union – LIUNA – is more powerful than ever in our 120 year old history.”
“The Irish Republic of which Connolly dreamed is within our reach, because our yearning for freedom and self-determination is inalienable, invincible and immortal.”
“I am proud to say our President’s commitment to the peace process is just as strong as his commitment to organised labour.”
